JouraBooks Research

Help us understand how businesses use QuickBooks Desktop today

We're building JouraBooks, a modern local-first accounting product for small businesses that still rely on QuickBooks Desktop.

Before we build too much, we're talking directly with business owners, bookkeepers, accountants, and QuickBooks Desktop users to understand what works, what is painful, and what would make switching realistic.

This is not a sales call. We're looking for honest feedback from people who know the real workflows.

Who we're hoping to talk to

QuickBooks Desktop users and advisors

A small business owner using QuickBooks Desktop
A bookkeeper managing one or more QuickBooks Desktop company files
A CPA or accountant who supports QuickBooks Desktop clients
A QuickBooks ProAdvisor or consultant
A former QuickBooks Desktop user who moved to QuickBooks Online or another system
Someone who has dealt with QuickBooks Desktop migration, backups, accountant copies, inventory, payroll, job costing, or reporting

What we're trying to learn

The workflows behind the decision

We are especially interested in the practical details that determine whether switching is realistic.

  • Why businesses still use QuickBooks Desktop
  • What people like about Desktop compared with QuickBooks Online
  • What is frustrating, outdated, or painful
  • How company files, backups, accountant copies, and remote access are handled
  • What reports and workflows are non-negotiable
  • What would make a business seriously consider switching
  • What a trustworthy migration from QuickBooks Desktop would need to include

What the call is like

A short conversation, not a pitch

The call takes about 20 minutes.

We'll ask about your current workflow, what tools you use, what has or hasn't worked, and what you would expect from a modern QuickBooks Desktop alternative.

There is no preparation needed. You do not need to share private financial data or company files.

At the end, if useful, we may show a short preview of what we are building and ask for your reaction.

Optional thank-you

A small thank-you for qualified calls

As a thank-you for qualified research participants, we may offer a $50-$100 gift card depending on the type of call and participant background.

This is not required. We mainly want to learn from people with real QuickBooks Desktop experience.
