Why now

Support deadlines

Three dates are forcing a decision on every Desktop business and the firms that serve them.

QBD 2023 loses support on May 31, 2026. QBD 2024 follows on May 31, 2027. Bank feeds stop. Security updates stop. Businesses still on Desktop are being forced into a decision.

Accountants are under the same pressure. ProAdvisor certification tied to Desktop expires in January 2027, pushing firms off the product alongside their clients.

A path forward
"A desktop-native path forward, not QBO."

Local data control, familiar workflows, and a product shaped around moving forward from QBD.

The default replacement is QuickBooks Online. JouraBooks is being built for teams that want a different answer: desktop-native accounting, local data control, and a practical path forward from QBD.

02

What we're building

Current product principles shaping the roadmap.

01

Local-first

Customer-controlled files, cloud optional.

Your company file stays in your hands. Back it up, copy it, move it, and keep working without asking a vendor for permission.

02

Desktop-familiar

Built to keep retraining effectively zero.

Invoices, estimates, POs, bills, and deposits with familiar form patterns and keyboard-first flows for experienced desktop accounting users.

03

Ask Joura

Your AI accountant, bookkeeper, and operations assistant.

Ask Joura lives inside JouraBooks. It answers accounting questions from your actual books, runs the bookkeeping you used to do by hand, and automates the business processes — like turning RFQs into priced estimates — that used to eat your Tuesdays.

04

Own your data

Your data stays yours. Open formats, full export, no lock-in.

Exporting your data should stay straightforward, and moving off JouraBooks should stay practical if your needs change.

05

Licensing on your terms

Pay once, subscribe, or mix.

Pricing is meant to stay straightforward, with one-time license and subscription options without gating core bookkeeping workflows behind higher tiers.

03

How it compares

A plain-English look at the choices business owners, bookkeepers, and accountants are weighing.

Data control

Keep your data available to back up, move, and export.

Supported data and migration limits vary by feature and beta stage. See the migration page for current details.
